The false declaration of an electrical installation, the fatal damage and how her 54-year-old partner was lucky
Light on what caused the electric shock that led to the death of a 24-year-old woman in the bathroom of the house she lived with her partner in the center of Thessaloniki on October 25, 2023.
The conclusion came out on November 7 and showed that the earthing cable connecting the water heater to the electrical panel had been burnt. Also, in the installation statement, it appeared that the electrical panel had a safety switch (relay), although there was none. Also, the electrical installation statement referred to the data of another apartment. In addition, according to the conclusion, it was by chance that the 24-year-old’s partner was not fatally electrocuted, as if he had not been wearing shoes when he went to save her, he would have died as well.
The chronicle of the 24-year-old’s death
The girl’s body was found by her 54-year-old partner with whom she lived. He had left the apartment for a while to buy feed. When he returned, he found the girl unconscious and immediately called EKAV. Despite the efforts of the rescuers to bring her back, this was not possible. Giving a statement to the AT Lefkos Pyrgos police officers, the 54-year-old had spoken of an electric shock scenario, which was also confirmed after the forensic examination.
The prosecutor had ordered a preliminary investigation into the death of the 24-year-old woman, who lived in the area of Panagia Laodigitria in Thessaloniki. According to the forensic findings, her death was attributed to electrocution, while the prosecutor’s order sought any criminal liability. Specifically, the head of the Thessaloniki First Instance Prosecutor’s Office Dimitris Smyrnis had instructed the criminal prosecution prosecutor to order an investigation by the Life Crimes Department of the Thessaloniki Security.
As for the offenses under investigation, the fatal report is contained, as well as any other act (for life) resulting from the investigation. In the written order to the Security, it was requested that the expert report and autopsy reports be presented.
