The National Intelligence Service (NIS) is for the first time declassifying its archival material and specific documents relating to the period of the coup against Archbishop Makarios and the Turkish invasion.
The EYP published 58 bulletins drawn up by the competent officials of the then KYP for the two months of the coup against Archbishop Makarios and the Turkish invasion on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus tragedy. Specifically, they relate to the period from July to August 1974 and are essentially a diary of the developments of that period that were recorded on the basis of the information of the service and do not, however, relate to the actions of the Service but to the actions of third parties.
Presenting this initiative with a special message, the Governor of the EYP, Mr. Themistoklis Demiris, emphasizes that the 50 years that have passed since then, if not imposing, certainly allow you to look back on an exercise of national and service self-awareness.
