It has received highly flattering comments from critics, especially for its riveting scenes inside the prisons of Avlona
The movie “No Cap” for Light. In fact, even more impressive with the exciting opening of the music documentary “No Cap” is that it played exclusively in Village Cinemas, with limited showings on only 7 screens for only 3 days and managed to “cut” 8,623 tickets.
Amazing ticket numbers combined with sold out showings of ‘No Cap’ secured two more three-day runs through December 22, with more to come.
At the same time, film has drawn highly flattering comments from local critics, especially for her captivating scenes inside the prisons of Avlona, where the first live concert was held in front of prisoners, the only material she offers from the artist’s visit to the gypsy camp in Dendropotamos, but and exclusive footage from the infamously violent incident that unfolded at last year’s Mad VMAs.
“No Cap” follows the journey of Light, also known as Nero Greco, a Greek rapper with Kenyan roots, who grew up in Greece experiencing the intense socio-political changes of the past decades. From an early age, Light faced social exclusion, racism and stereotypes and, despite these difficulties, highlighted trap music, giving it a leading role in the Greek music scene.
With the establishment of his own independent music label, he managed to bring trap to the fore and gain international recognition, reaching the title of Spotify Artist of the Year for three consecutive years (2021, 2022 & 2023). With over 1 billion streams and 600 million views on YouTube, “No Cap” explores Light’s journey through personal conflicts, court battles, and friends-turned-enemies.
The direction is signed by the internationally acclaimed director Denis Iliadis (“The Last House on the Left”, “Delirium”, “Hardcore”), while the production was undertaken by Paris Kasidokostas – Latsis (“Good Time”, “Daddio”, “Grandma” ) and Konstantinos Moutsinas (“Short Fuse”, “Cavewoman”).
“No Cap” not only highlights Light’s personal story, but also illuminates social issues of modern Greece, such as racism, increasing delinquency among young people and the need for collectivity and inclusion. Through Light’s struggle, “No Cap” sends the message of authenticity and strength that anyone can discover within themselves, regardless of circumstances or obstacles.
