The Greek islands are among the top destinations for stargazing in 2025, according to yachting holiday company Sunsail.

In addition, summer in the Mediterranean, with its high temperatures, dryness and clear skies, is ideal for stargazing. However, for those who want to avoid the large crowds on the Greek islands, holidays in April-May or September-October are recommended.
What makes Greece so special for stargazing is its spectacular environment Sunsail points out, adding that there is nothing more beautiful than admiring the sunset against the backdrop of its mountain peaks, turquoise waters and beautiful beaches. Stargazing holidays are one of the top travel trends for 2024 according to the company, thanks in part to astronomical phenomena such as the northern lights which were visible from many parts of Europe this weekend, driving more travelers to search for holidays with an emphasis on astronomy. Demand for such holidays in the last quarter is up 50%, while searches for the best stargazing destinations are up 150% over the same period.
More than ever, people are looking for astronomy and nature-focused holidays, said Sunsail’s Head of Brand, Katrina Lawson, adding that the best stargazing destinations have low light pollution, unobstructed views and tranquil surroundings. The remaining destinations suggested as the most ideal for stargazing in 2025 are the British Virgin Islands, the Seychelles and Antigua.
