During his arrest the 33-year-old he resisted by kicking and punching the police.
The young woman, who said she did not know the accused, is hospitalized with serious head injuries.
The Palestinian is an old acquaintance of the authorities as he was arrested last June for an attack on a 64-year-old woman in the same area.
