The only solution is for the China-based parent company to sell the platform to a US-based company by January 19
The Supreme Court has upheld the law banning TikTok in the US unless China-based parent company ByteDance sells the platform by January 19.
ByteDance had sued the law, arguing it violated free speech protections for the app’s more than 170 million US users. But that argument was rejected by the country’s Supreme Court, meaning TikTok must immediately find a buyer for the US version of the app or face a ban.
US officials and lawmakers have accused ByteDance of ties to the Chinese government and raised US national security concerns about TikTok.
