20 computers were seized
Four people were arrested by the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of Northern Greece for illegal gambling in a store in Thessaloniki.
Specifically, on the afternoon of Saturday, January 4, during an inspection at a health care store, it was found that the temporary manager, acting on behalf of the owner of the store, had installed and put into operation 18 complete computers, connected to a network, having allowed a customer of the store to participate as a player in the prohibited game of chance “slots”. The owner of the store is also included in the case filed for violation of gaming legislation.
At the same time, another employee of the store managed the computers through two other computers, which functioned as central control and management units (servers), from where he imported betting units and altered the image displayed on computer screens to obscure the illegal activity.
Finally, another employee was found working in the store providing simple cooperation in the above illegal act.
As part of the investigations, a total of 18 complete electronic computers and two other complete electronic computers that functioned as a central control and management unit (servers), 590 euros, two remote controls and handwritten notes were found and confiscated.
The arrested employees of the store were taken to the competent prosecutor’s office, while the player was released with a verbal order from the prosecutor.
