The 39-year-old disappeared on New Year’s Day and has been searched for since then with no results so far
The disappearance in Larissa of the 39-year-old psychologist Vassilis Kalogirou, son of the prosecutor who handled the case of the Tempi railway tragedy, is turning into a thriller.
Executives of EMAK are searching Pinios to locate any element of the 39-year-old, while at the same time a drone is scanning the entire river from above and looking for a trace of him. “They had concentrated there in Pinios, because a point of the river is close to the residence of the wanted person, around 500 meters,” says Silver Alert commander Mr. Kourouklis.
The 39-year-old has brown hair, green eyes, height 1.79 and normal weight. On the day she went missing she was wearing a dark blue parka jacket, a dark colored blouse, blue jeans, black trainers and navy blue myopia glasses with bone frames. Vassilis and his family are not unknown in the Thessalian capital. “A mom who has a very powerful position for our time, we have a dad who is also in the judiciary. Of course, there is also an uncle who is involved in the local political scene”, adds Mr. Kourouklis.
The private investigator, Giorgos Tsoukalis, says in his turn: “A really well-organized family. It is a strange disappearance like this, which leaves many question marks, which we are called to together with the Greek Police, with the volunteer groups, to put an end to this torture”.
He left without taking a mobile phone and a car
The 39-year-old used to go for a walk to the area where the investigations take place. A few days before, he had come to Larissa to see his family and spend some family time. He is the nephew of the former MP of the NIKI party, Giorgos Apostolakis. Nothing foretold that he would disappear from the face of the earth. When he left, he didn’t take his mobile phone or his car with him.
“He is a man who is in good health, a man who is a psychologist, he is educated, he is appointed as a seasonal worker for the 24-25 school term in a school in Kastoria, where he helps children with special needs,” says Mr. Kourouklis.
In addition to the announcement from Silver Alert, volunteers are involved in the search, while the fire department has a boat and a specially trained dog at its disposal. Authorities are looking into some information that says the 39-year-old is alive. Authorities are appealing to anyone who knows anything about Vassilis to contact the Silver Alert call center or the Police without wasting time.
The search for the 39-year-old missing man is still ongoing on the banks of Pinios. The searches are being conducted in a radius of several kilometers from the 39-year-old’s home. Divers with a lifeboat search the entire river from side to side and dive in places where the Pinios is deep. Unfortunately, so far the investigations have not yielded results, as nothing has been found of the 39-year-old who is the son of a senior judicial officer, the director of the Appeals Prosecution, Larissa Sophia Apostolaki, who also oversees the investigation into Tempi.
The investigations will continue in the city of Larissa, as one day after his disappearance some claimed to have seen him in a bookstore, but also in neighboring prefectures where the Pinios and its tributaries extend. Of course, the police are also investigating the case, waiting for the 39-year-old’s cell phone to “talk” about the last calls he made before he disappeared.
