The incident happened in the city center and later the perpetrator of the robbery was arrested
The robbery that happened on the night of Friday 17/1 in the center of the city of Chania.
Specifically, a foreigner approached a 61-year-old man from Chanioti at the moment he had parked and was getting out of his car and with the threat of a knife led him to an adjacent ATM where he forced him to withdraw 840 euros, which he then took from him and fled pedestrian.
The 61-year-old immediately called the police authorities and in no time officers from the Crime Prevention Team of the Chania Sub-Directorate for Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes located the foreigner who was taken to the Chania Police Station where he was identified by the 61-year-old, reported the flashnews.
As it was established, this is a 46-year-old man from Morocco, known to the authorities, who is even required by a court order to appear at a police station
In his possession was found and confiscated almost all of the amount of money taken which was attributed to its owner.
The preliminary investigation is carried out by the Sub-Directorate of Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes of Chania.
