The Christmas movie starring four children was shot in Zagorochoria, specifically Tsepelovo
Yannis Tsimitselis and the young protagonists of his new movie “Snow Cookies” were on the set of the show “Eleni” today.
The Christmas movie by Yiannis Tsimitselis was shot in Zagorochoria, specifically in Tsepelovo, with the director and actor talking about a natural decor. The young protagonists of the film, Stella Mourikis, Stratis Zaharis and Ariadni Velli, stayed for two weeks in Zagorochoria for the filming and went crazy as soon as they saw the film. The reactions of their classmates were also incredible, as soon as they found out about their leading role in “Snowdrops”.
“When we went to shoot, I told the set designer and the photographer that I want Christmas in every shot. I had to be cool because if I panicked I would have had issues, there were 40 of us. When we didn’t find snow, we hired a company that builds ice rinks, they brought 20 tons of ice, we broke the ice with an ax and made snow”, said Yiannis Tsimitselis. “The children were focused and very poorly read. I feel very lucky to have chosen these guys to act in the film. All four turned out great for me. It was a big bet, a child cannot be disciplined in a role” he added.
Yiannis Tsimitselis stated that he is proud of the film and is glad that the world embraced it and treated it so sweetly. “In this film I got a lot of trust from people. It’s an offer on their part. I want to thank Vicky Stavropoulou for her guest. As soon as I told her, she immediately said yes, and she doesn’t say that easily. It was all a team. I like that in the jobs I do, we are a tough core of people who will run for each other. Since we also had children, I tried to make a puzzle with a nice atmosphere, without tensions and voices”, he added.
The young protagonists of the film received a lot of compliments for their performance at the premiere, while they revealed that there were very few times when they felt like… getting stuck in their words. “My cousin called me when she saw the movie and she said ‘you were perfect in that scene’ and that everyone was crying,” Stella Mourikis told Eleni Menegaki. “The teachers were impressed, because as soon as the movie started, the kids were glued to the screen. They were excited. The goal was from the beginning when the parents leave the cinema to hug their children, to feel the joy of having them by their side and to feel Christmas”, said Yiannis Tsimitselis.
The director revealed that the film is dedicated to his daughter, Eva. “If it wasn’t for Eva, I wouldn’t have made this film. I wouldn’t have the sensitivity to make this film, only Eva could take me there. I personally screened the film for Eva and two of her friends. She had cried, she had been moved, but at the same time she wanted to hide it. She liked it very much”, said Yiannis Tsimitselis, making Eleni Menegakis also moved.
