The journalist referred to the period of the singer’s separation from Kazantzidis
Among others, Yannis Xanthoulis, who was a guest on ERT’s “Studio 4” show, spoke about Marinella. The well-known novelist and journalist referred to his long personal relationship with the singer and everything she encountered after the breakup with Stelios Kazantzidis.
THE Yannis Xanthoulis characteristically noted that “Marinella became known as Marinella when she divorced Stelios Kazantzidis. She knew she had a nice voice, but when they broke up, she was left with ace. He had nowhere to go. Where to go? And there is Giorgos Katsaros. She tells him, ‘I want to work,’ and they do a big tour in Russia at the time.”
Marinella becomes… Marinella after ’67. After ’66, when they divorced, she was in the ace and even supported her parents. He had no money. They were two people but one pocket, not two. Well, anyway, she got her money. He told her “I will give you the money when we separate and the divorce comes out”. He gave them to her but there was a coldness and cold words.
Then the world treated her horribly. Because the world was with him Kazantzidis. That is, he would go to sing and he would hear: “oh baby, you made our boy cry and be sad”. Because he was singing all these songs and people understood that he was taking out his pain for a great love that didn’t work out and his mind was on Marinella. So this thing went on for a long time and the cur…dude would be thrown down and say this and that. He had to stand up and face it.”
